Underemployment
In 2009, Kershaw County retained the services of Pathfinders, Inc. of Dallas, Texas to conduct a study of the underemployed in the Kershaw County labor shed. The survey area included Chesterfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee, Lexington, Richland, and Sumter Counties.
For purposes of the report, the following are defined as underemployed: those workers who posses the skills, experience, and education to qualify them for the pay rates at which they would take a new job.
